Chandler Police Officers responded to a call of shots fired in a neighborhood near W. Ray Road and Arizona Avenue just before 2 a.m. on Sunday morning. The caller stated they had heard multiple shots being fired at a neighboring residence.

Upon arrival, officers set up a perimeter in an alley behind the residence. Shortly after, officers heard multiple rounds being fired from the backyard of the home. One officer observed a suspect pointing a weapon in the direction of officers. That is when the officer discharged their duty-issued weapon.

No one, including Chandler PD officers, was injured in the incident. Three individuals located inside the residence have been detained.

As per Chandler PD’s agreement with the East Valley Critical Incident Response Team (EVCIRT), the Mesa Police Department is investigating the incident.
